Normal Update

I haven't updated since LAST YEAR!

So, let me recap on what's happened since then.

-I got glasses.

-I got my drivers permit.

-I DROVE!

Firstly,  my glasses are absolutely amazing. I was unaware that I had such poor eyesight. I'm nearsighted, so close up, things look the same. Far away, however, there is an incredible difference. I had accepted the fact that distant objects looked muddled and blurred. However, with the glasses on, they come into unbelievably sharp focus. I really am glad to have them.

I was rather nervous about taking the drivers permit test. In fact, the first time we went, I started feeling noxious while waiting(though this was partly because I hadn't eaten anything that day). I didn't get to take the test that time though since I failed the vision exam.

After getting the glasses, I finally took the test and it turned out that all my worrying was unnecessary. It was a pretty ridiculous test. I think I could have taken it cold turkey and gotten a good number of the questions right. As it stands, I got all of them right. So, great! I got the permit.

Driving for the first time is an amazing experience. From the time you're born, you spend hours and hours in a vehicle's droll hum which becomes distant and abstract in your mind. Trees pass, the car turns, and even though you know better, it almost seems like the car is turning itself and that it could never suddenly veer off course at the whim of its driver.

This fancy is instantly destroyed the moment you buckle your seatbelt and find yourself at the wheel of the car.  Whatever you do controls the entire machine. All four-thousand pounds of it will turn where you turn it and accelerate as fast as a slight push of the shoe bids it. The feeling you get is quite incredible.

I haven't driven on any major roads yet. We live around some rural and nearly abandoned roads with low speed limits and few vehicles. I can't wait to get my license later this year.

Anyways, that's all for now!

  6. "I started feeling noxious while waiting..." Were you feeling poisonous or nauseated? :-)
