Project Glass:Augmented reality is finally coming!!!

Watch, and be amazed. I, for one, got used to all the prattle regarding "augmented reality". But, Google's new  concept called "Project Glass" has made me a believer. Believe me, I'll be first in line to grab a pair of these.

  2. Hmmm... I'm, as always, a skeptic. It looks pretty neat. Like an awesome way to control your life a bit more. If they come out, will I get one? There's a remote chance I might. But more likely, I'll be in the back woods somewhere, loading up my pickup with firewood and building a barn out of chainsaw lumber. :-) I'm suspicious about anything that shares my location. Someday soon, I'll be building a Faraday cage for my laptop and iPod, so the FBI can't boot them up remotely with radio signals. I'll also recruit anonymous to obliterate my Google account. ;-)

  3. Are you being for real? I didn't know laptops or iPods had radios (except for the nano). In that case, wouldn't it be a lot easier just to remove the radio transmitter?

And, as for the glasses, I think pretty much any smart phone can share your location. So, just disable location sharing.

    1. They don't necessarily always have radios, but they can be booted remotely by radio. I have a friend who has friends in the DHS, and he has learned neat but scary stuff like that.
I know that smartphones offer to disable location tracking, but I don't always believe that they really stop. On my iPod, I disabled locations for my Camera. It works, because I had a way of testing it. But I don't always believe them. :-) The only way to keep a laptop safe from being booted by radio is to place it in a Faraday cage or remove the battery. I'm a bit weird, because I love technology and hate it both at the same time. I call it convenience and virtual imprisonment at the same time. :-)

    3. Oops! That's one problem with using the same name for different things. I was thinking of Ubuntu's Unity HUD.
